The entrepreneur was granted aid under the government programme:
“Support for energy-intensive sectors related to natural gas and electricity prices in 2024”.
On the initiative of Prince von Pless, Hans Heinrich XV von Hochberg, the construction of a power plant and electrothermal smelter began in Łaziska Górne. It was designed to meet the demand for calcium carbide used in local mines. At the beginning, calcium carbide was supplied mostly to mines owned by Prince von Pless.
The power plant and calcium carbide factory were registered in the industry register as a company under the name “Kraft und Schmelzwerke <Prinzegrube> Aktiengezellschaft” (Power plant and calcium carbide factory of the “Princeling” mine).
All shares in Kraft und Schmelzwerke “Prinzegrube” Aktiengezellschaft were purchased by a Swiss company called “Elektrochemie AG – Schaffhausen”, in which Prince von Pless had a casting vote. Supplies of calcium carbide to the mines located in Upper Silesian Coal Basin were launched.
Beginning of ferroalloys production to meet the needs of Upper Silesian steelworks. The production profile of the smelter is ferrosilicon, ferrochrome, ferroaluminosilicon, quick-setting cement, and corundum.
The previous name, “Kraft und Schmelzwerke <Prinzegrube> Aktiengezellschaft”, was changed into “Zakłady Elektro Spółka z ograniczoną poręką”.
