Environmental protection

Huta Łaziska has an environmental protection policy in place. The policy aims at minimising the impact of the plant operations on the environment by complying with environmental standards and regulations and conducting activities to reduce emissions from the plant at the macro level. Since 2007, Huta Łaziska has been granted an integrated permit that specifies the overall environmental protection measures.

In order to reduce a direct environmental burden of the plant production, the smelter takes the following pro-environmental actions:

Quality management and
environmental management system.

Currently

the plant has a certificate for compliance with ISO 9001:2015 and ISO 14001:2015.

The scope of the Huta Łaziska quality and environmental management system includes two major processes – production and sale of ferroalloys and post-filtration dust products. In order to ensure proper and smooth operation of those processes, the auxiliary processes are assigned. Management processes are supporting the proper functioning of the entire system and the organisation.

2019

Since 2019, the plant has been awarded a certificate confirming the compliance of its environmental management system with ISO 14001.

The system is subject to continuous improvement and is maintained in accordance with the current regulations.

1996

In 1996 Huta Łaziska received a TÜV Certificate confirming the compliance of its quality system with ISO 9002. This certificate was a culminating point of several years of works devoted to improvement of the organisation and functioning of the selected areas of the plant life. In addition, the Minister of Industry and Commerce, Director of the Polish Centre for Testing and Certification and President of the NOT Federation granted Huta Łaziska the Cleaner Production Company Certificate confirming previous achievements of the plant in the area of reducing its negative impact on the environment.

Since 1996, the plant has been awarded a certificate confirming the compliance of its quality management system with ISO 9001.

Building materials

Atomic law

Building materials

Silica fume obtained in the production of ferroalloys is a very much desired addition to the production of concrete. Parameters of the fume improving the properties of concrete are constantly examined by the factory production control and accredited laboratories. Fulfilling the requirements of standard EN 13263-1 by SILIMIC® (trade name of our silica fume)  is confirmed by certificates of the Institute of Building Technology we were awarded in 2008.

Atomic law

Pursuant to article 32c (2) of the Atomic Law (Journal of Laws of 2019 item 1792), HUTA ŁAZISKA S.A. notifies that the company business activity relating to ionising radiation consisting of using equipment containing radioactive sources does not cause any adverse effects on human health or the environment.

The activity conducted does not cause releases of radioactive substances into the environment.

EU ETS

In the beginning of 2010, the necessity to fight against global warming and the regulations aimed to this purpose, resulted in the commencement of works on accession to the European Trading Scheme for CO2 emissions. As a result of these works, in June 2011, Huta Łaziska received a permission to participate in this system starting from the third period, i.e. 01.01.2013.

REACH

The plant registered ferrosilicon and Silimic® based on Regulation (EC) No. 1907/2006 of the European Parliament and of the Council of 18 December 2006 concerning the Registration, Evaluation, Authorisation and Restriction of Chemicals (REACH), which entered into force on the 1st of June, 2007.
