FeSiFerrosilicon is produced in electric submerged-arc furnaces from quartz or quartzite by silicon oxide reduction using carbon from coke and hard coal in the presence of iron. High purity grades of ferrosilicon are produced using the off- furnace liquid ferrosilicon refining.

 

Application:

Ferrosilicon is mainly used in steel production as a deoxidant and alloying element and in the cast iron production as an inoculant.

 

Packaging and transport:

Ferrosilicon is delivered in bulk or in big-bags by road or rail transport. The material must be kept away from moisture.
